Both GateWorld.net and RDAnderson.com have reported this week that the long awaited third Stargate SG-1 movie has been given the green light by MGM.
In a note sent to RDAnderson.com by none other than Richard Dean Anderson himself, he writes:
There are so few details beyond the ‘go ahead’, but I sat next to Charlie Cohen and across from Brad Wright at dinner two weeks ago (the cast dinner for the launch of Stargate Universe), and just an hour prior to sitting down to mediocre cuisine, Charlie had announced MGM’s intention to make the next Stargate movie. As I am led to believe, shooting may start this summer, most likely.
According to reports that have been circulating for months now, Brad Wright and Carl Binder have put pen to paper for the third movie, and the story centers on Jack O’Neill.
In the same note, RDA also mentions that he is in “a snippet of a scene with Robert Carlyle” for Stargate Universe, and will be seen several times over the course of SGU’s first several episodes!

According to Claudia herself via the Q&A forum on the claudiablackonline.com website:
“How did you feel when you found out you were not appearing in the third SG1 movie? Did the producers contact you directly, or did you find out through the internet, like us?”
CB: “They certainly didn’t ask me to be involved but I am in no way upset about it. I never expect to be asked back to anything”.”
So who knows, maybe sometime in the future the two will meet. I hope they do too! It’s almost guarenteed to be hysterical! You know me. I’ll always have hope!
Actually, I beleive what I heard was that they did try to invite her, but she was already tied up with another project. Of course that may have been last Fall. In any case, they have no intention of never having her play Vala again, but this time the opportunity has not presented itself. Since this movie will center on Jack, it makes sense to me that Vala may not take part, though I do hope that one day they will have some scenes togther. I’ve always wondered what they would make of eachother!
Sadly, Claudia Black was not invited to participate in the third movie. =(
I’ll still gladly see it anyway though!
