Hello Stargate Universe Fans!Click to visit SGU on SyFy

With the hiatus finallClick to visit Stargate Universe on MGM-Dot Com!y over I’m glad to get back and buckle down for more SGU episodes. Both Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie have written another great episode full of character development while balancing in some action.

With the loss of Dr. Rush and two other crew members in previous episodes (outstanding actor Josh Blacker as Sergeant Spencer for one) the ship moral is at its all time low.

2010 - SGU S1x11 - Space - Robert Carlyle as Rush Left on Planet

How are they going to go on without Dr. Rush? Unfortunately, Eli must bare most of the responsibility with Rush’s absence. How long can Eli pull it together? As Eli is struggling with his new responsibilities, some of the crew are still questioning the events that lead to Rush’s seeming death on the planet. Has he been captured by aliens?

2010 - SGU S1x11 - Space - David Blue as the Wonderful Eli

No surprise to who is more suspicious than the IOA’s Camile Wray (MingNa) as pictured below.

Is Brian J. Smith as Lt. Scott becoming the leader we all imagine he really is?

Will Colonel Young’s conscience get to him for leaving Dr. Rush to die on the planet?

2010 - SGU S1x11 - Space -Louis Ferriera as Col. Young

What has Chloe Armstrong been up to in Space (pictured below)?

With Destiny constantly traveling through space you have to wonder if the crew will ever encounter any intelligent life forms. In “Space” we finally get an alien encounter. But is it what crew anticipated? MGM has posted a picture of the alien featured in the episode. Good alien or bad alien? You will have to watch and see for yourself. Let us just say there are more questions then there are answers. I’m doing my best not to spoil it for you all, but below is the face of the aliens release recently by MGM Studios.

I must to say there are some great visual effects done by Mark Savela and his team. I was impressed with the seamless movement of the alien. I can only imagine how long it took to get that kind of work done. I’ll “admit” (not hard to do) that I personally enjoy the Space battle scenes. Come on who doesn’t love explosions in space? Watching them gets my heart pumping and has me rooting for our Destiny crew.

2010 - SGU S1x11 - Space - Crew Lunch

Personally some of the best parts of “Space” were the other members of the crew; Volker, Brody, Lisa Park and  Lt. James; were featured more prominently than in previous episodes. Yes, there is the excellent main ensemble cast of SGU like David Blue,  Brian Jacob Smith, Elyse Levesque, Alaina Huffman, Jamil Walker Smith, Louis Ferriera, MingNa, and Robert Carlyle.

2010 - SGU S1x11 - Space - Beautiful Alaina Huffman - TJ

But we all have to remember there are many other crew members still on the ship of Destiny that contribute to it’s success. Kudos to Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie for giving us more background and insight on these characters.

I’m very much impressed with the song choices for each episode. In “Space” we are treated to Rob Tomas’ “Now Comes the Night” for the ending montage. The music really enhances the tone of where the crew of the Destiny’s mindset is or heading to. Watching the private moments in the montage really bring to our attention the emotional toll this journey has brought these characters. Some have found ways to cope, while others are still struggling.

WormholeRiders. Click to visit & follow WHR on Twitter!I am often questioned by other Stargate fans why I’m fan of SGU. It is episodes like “Space” that have me coming back for more. Each episode gives the audience a chance to connect with each of the characters. I know it is hard to do with so many people in a large cast. I feel as each and every new episode is aired I cannot help, but wonder what is going to happen next. Not knowing can definitely be frustrating, but I find it allows me to try to come up with my own theories as to what can happen next.

Now the question is are you ready for “Space”?
