BUOYED BY SANCTUARY, STARGATE UNIVERSE AND MEGAFAULT,
SYFY RISES TO #3 on CABLE!
New York, NY – October 13, 2009 – It was quite a week for Syfy. Propelled by Sanctuary, Stargate Universe and the Original Movie Megafault, Syfy was the #3 cable entertainment network in Adults 25-54, behind only USA and TBS, for the week ending October 11.
On Friday, October 9, at 10PM (ET/PT), Sanctuary’s second season premiere jumped 18% in Adults 18-49 (946,000) compared to last year’s season average, its second highest delivery in that demo ever.
At 9PM (ET/PT), Stargate Universe improved with double-digit growth in key demos over last week’s record setting premiere performance (the highest franchise premiere mark in four years), by growing 22% in Adults 18-49 (1.37 million) and 13% in Adults 25-54 (1.49 million) – the best Stargate showing in these demos in four years – while beating FOX’s Dollhouse for the second straight week in total viewers and key demos.
Then on Saturday, October 10, from 9-11PM (ET/PT), Megafault, starring Brittany Murphy, Eriq LaSalle and Bruce Davison, posted the largest Syfy Original Movie audience since April 2007, drawing 2.5 million viewers and a 2.0 HH rating, while delivering 1.1 million A25-54 (highest in this demo since March) and 884,000 A18-49.
Megafault, a nail-biting thriller about a powerful earthquake that triggers a potentially catastrophic crack in the Earth’s crust, was the #1 cable movie in total day among Adults 25-54, driving Syfy into #2 for Saturday prime among all cable entertainment networks.
