DragonCon: Saturday

Today was a day of crowded insanity. Apparently there are many people whodo not come to DragonCon until it is well underway, and Saturday is usually a big one.

First, I have to give another big shout out to Dan Carroll and the DragonCon Media Relations team! We were in a larger auditorium for today’s panels, one that had a catwalk/balcony level all around the sides. The access is restricted to these areas, but with Dan’s generous help we were given access! This provided us with an amazing vantage on the stage, and all the room we needed to position our multiple cameras! Thank you Dan! You are awesome!

img_3741The Farscape panel was a bit more . . . well, tame isn’t a word I could truthfully use . . . neither is sane, for  that matter! As a newbie to the Farscape craze – and it is a craze because the Farscape panel hand more fans in attendance than the Stargate panel – I am not able to really do justice to just how much fun this panel was, so I will leave it to RadioStar!
The day has ended early for me for once, and thank goodness. The increase in bodies to negotiate around coupled with the use of a wheel-around backpack (estimated weight, 35 lb.) really can take a toll on a girl. Meanwhile, RadioStar is still attending some non-Stargate related events.

Tomorrow will perhaps be the biggest day of all. We originally had one surprise planned for you, but you’re never going to believe this because we can hardly believe it ourselves! We now have TWO special surprises! Also, tomorrow there will be another Stargate Multiverse panel, which we are reasonably sure will be attended by both Ben Browder and Claudia Black because there is no Farscape panel tomorrow. So stay tuned for what could be the biggest panel ever, and TWO BIG Surprises!
The Stargate panel was very amusing. Rachel was late so Joe called her, holding the phone near his mic so we could hear her responses. He told her that he was in the washroom, and she said she was in her room and didn’t know where the panel was! When she arrived the ribbing of Rachel began. Maybe she should not have sat down between Joe and Paul? She fought back though, almost straggling Joe at one point, and at another jumping up to do something – we know not what – to Jason, who scampered away! Let’s just say it was a very physical panel as far as the Atlantis cast was concerned. Colin and Gary spent much of the time just sitting back and watching the show with the rest of us!
Lunch around here is an adventure in itself. The hotels sell food, but as one might expect the prices are rather high. Today we journeyed – and I mean that literally – to a mall with a food court that is kitty-corner to the Marriott hotel. We then waited in the shortest line we could find for chicken wraps that were pretty darn good, but were never intended to be eaten sitting on the hard floor of the mall because ALL the seats were taken and no one was moving. I don’t know what they could do differently, but that mall can’t handle the DragonCon!

This afternoon we had the first Stargate Multiverse panel, attended by Gary Jones and Colin Cunningham for SG-1, and Rachel Lutrell, Jason Momoa, Paul McGillion, and Joe Flanigan for Stargate Atlantis. RadioStar and I suspect that many fans expected Ben Browder and Claudia Black to attend this panel as well, but they waited for the following Farscape panel to make their appearances with Virginia Hey and Lani Tupu.
